With millions of students learning remotely because of COVID19, schools are turning to homeschooling that too often includes religious content unsuitable for public schools. Mr. Fish is president of American Atheists and is a seasoned civil rights and civil liberties activist.

Presentation by Sam Harrell about the current state of incarceration in the United States and Critical Resistance’s theory and strategy for abolition and ways of responding to harm. Sam is a member of the Portland chapter of Critical Resistance which coordinates the Prisoner Correspondence Program. Sam is a doctoral student in social work studying the relationship between social work, abolition, and transformative justice.
Presentation by Emily Newman about the commitments of Humanism. Emily Newman is the Education Coordinator at the American Humanist Association’s Center for Education. She holds a B.S. in psychology as well as an M.A. in professional writing from Carnegie Mellon University.
